Conakry authorities conduct sanitation and eviction operations

Authorities in Conakry have launched several sanitation and urban improvement initiatives across the city. In the Kaloum commune, security forces and local officials conducted eviction operations in the Petit Bateau and Balla Fond areas of the Tombo neighborhood. While officials stated these actions aim to improve living conditions and sanitation, affected residents reported a lack of prior notice and expressed concerns regarding the loss of livelihoods for local traders.

In a separate effort as part of Soldier Week 2026, defense and security forces carried out cleaning operations at the Madina market. This initiative involved the National Police and the Military Engineering Battalion, using heavy machinery to clear waste and unblock gutters from the Avaria market area to the Madina bridge to improve water drainage and public hygiene.
