CONALEP launches high‑tech mining program in Parral, Chihuahua

The CONALEP Plantel Parral and its Extensión Santa Bárbara have introduced a Professional Technical Bachelor in Mining Metallurgy to prepare students for the modern, automated mining sector in southern Chihuahua. The curriculum covers exploration, extraction, metallurgical processes, safety, quality control, specialized machinery operation and digital tools such as artificial intelligence, robotics and data analytics. Strong ties with regional mining companies provide internships, dual‑training and on‑site projects, giving graduates practical experience and immediate job prospects. The program also serves as a bridge to higher‑education pathways in mining, metallurgical, geological, industrial and environmental engineering. Officials, including Dr. Omar Bazán Flores, state director of CONALEP Chihuahua, highlight the initiative as a response to the sector’s shift toward sustainable, digitized operations and a means to sustain the long‑standing economic engine of mining in the region.
