Mexico opens Bienestar pension registration as Dominican Republic audits social program

In Mexico, the Secretaría de Bienestar has opened a new registration period for the Bienestar Pensions, running from October 19 to October 25, 2026. The programs include the Pension for Older Adults (65+ years), providing 6,400 pesos bimonthly, and the Mujeres Bienestar Pension (women aged 60-64), providing 3,100 pesos bimonthly. Registration is organized by the first letter of the applicant's surname to manage module attendance. Required documentation includes an official ID, CURP, birth certificate, proof of address, and a contact number.

In Michoacán, the Secretaría de Salud (SSM) is deploying mobile mammography units to seven municipalities from October 19 to 24 to provide free screenings for women aged 40 to 69.

In the Dominican Republic, an audit by the Contraloría General de la República revealed that at least 15 public servants were beneficiaries of the Conape Familias de Cariño program during 2024. Twelve individuals were registered as caregivers while receiving salaries from other state institutions, and three were registered as elderly beneficiaries despite earning up to 200,000 pesos monthly in other public roles. The audit highlighted risks of benefit duplication and increased public spending.
