CONAPESCA launches electricity discount program for aquaculture

The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA) has opened registration for the 2027 Aquaculture Electric Energy Program (PEEUA). The initiative aims to increase the profitability of aquaculture production units by providing a 50 percent discount on specific electricity tariffs during 2027.

Eligible tariffs include Small Demand Low Voltage (PDBT), Large Demand Low Voltage (GDBT), Large Demand in Ordinary Medium Voltage (GDMTO), and Large Demand in Hourly Medium Voltage (GDMTH). The program is intended for producers who utilize electricity for essential operations such as pumping and oxygenation.

Registration will take place from October 1 to November 30, 2026. Interested parties must visit their nearest local or state CONAPESCA office between 9:00 and 15:00. Required documentation includes a formal application, proof of ownership or legal possession of the production unit and electrical equipment, and a copy of the most recent electricity bill or contract.
