Conapesca reorganizes 132 offices into six regions to streamline operations

The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca) is reorganizing its 132 State and Local Representation Offices (ORES) into six distinct regions across Mexico. This restructuring aims to decentralize decision-making, bring administrative processes closer to fishing and aquaculture territories, and improve operational response times.

The six new regions are organized as follows:

1. Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa, and Sonora. 2. Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, and Zacatecas. 3. Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz. 4. Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Yucatán. 5. Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, and Tlaxcala. 6. Aguascalientes, Colima, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, and Querétaro.

Announced during the 2026 National Meeting of State Commissioners, the regional coordinations will serve as links between Conapesca's central offices and state representations. This move is intended to facilitate the joint monitoring of programs and streamline procedures that affect multiple states within a specific territory.
