Conca de Barberà awards wastewater sanitation contract

The Consell Comarcal de la Conca de Barberà has awarded a new four-year contract for the operation, conservation, and maintenance of the region's wastewater sanitation systems. The contract, which includes a possible one-year extension, has an annual cost of 1,107,037.39 euros plus VAT.

The contract was awarded to UTE Sanejament Conca de Barberà, a joint venture formed by the companies TRANSPARENTA and FACSA. The scope of work includes managing treatment plants in Montblanc, l’Espluga de Francolí, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Solivella, and Senan, as well as collectors in Vimbodí, les Masies, and Poblet.

Planned improvements aim to increase energy efficiency and resource optimization. Key interventions include replacing the sludge tank at the Montblanc treatment plant and implementing systems to reuse treated water for industrial purposes to reduce potable water consumption. The project also seeks to transition toward a 'biofactory' model, treating wastewater as a source of recoverable resources.
