Conca dei Marini boat collision leads to investigation of two skippers
Authorities in Salerno have launched a judicial investigation following a violent collision between two tourist boats off the coast of Conca dei Marini on August 7. The impact caused significant structural damage, including the destruction of a command console and detached hull pieces, and sent several passengers into the sea.
The Salerno Prosecutor's Office has ordered the seizure of both vessels to assist in reconstructing the dynamics of the crash. Two skippers—a 30-year-old from Vico Equense and a 32-year-old from Monti Lattari—are under investigation. They face serious charges, including shipwreck and culpable disaster, alongside violations of maritime safety regulations.
To determine if the accident was caused by negligence or impaired reflexes, prosecutors have ordered urgent toxicological tests for both operators.
