Concacaf and International Football Congresses held in Santiago
Two major football industry events took place in Santiago, Chile. The Concacaf Professional Football Development Seminar 2026 was held on September 16-17, bringing together representatives from 41 member associations. The seminar focused on club licensing, professional football management, match operations, infrastructure, and fan experience. Key participants included officials from the Dominican Football Federation (FDF) and the Dominican Football League (LDF), alongside leaders from Honduras and Canada.
Additionally, Deportivo Alavés participated in the 5th International Football Congress 2026. The Spanish club's sporting director, Sergio Fernández, discussed the club's scouting strategies and the financial success of signing Chilean player Guillermo Maripán. Fernández noted the club's interest in South American talent, specifically Chilean players, while acknowledging budget constraints in their recruitment process.
