CONCANACO warns of labor fraud targeting family businesses

CONCANACO SERVYTUR México has issued an alert regarding alleged labor fraud and simulation practices targeting family-owned businesses across various regions of the country. The organization reports a recurring pattern where individuals are hired for a short period, cease attending work without notice, and subsequently file lawsuits for unjustified dismissal approximately 15 days later.

In markets such as Querétaro, these legal actions can result in payments ranging from 50,000 to 70,000 pesos. For small family establishments with limited staff, such amounts can represent a month or more of total earnings, potentially threatening their survival or driving them toward informality.

Octavio de la Torre de Stéffano, president of CONCANACO SERVYTUR México, emphasized the need to distinguish between legitimate unjustified dismissals and fabricated claims. The Confederation plans to provide guidance to its business chambers to help identify these patterns, gather evidence, and report irregularities to the appropriate authorities.
