Conceit wins Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs

Conceit, a homebred filly from Juddmonte, won the 51st running of the Grade 3, $299,000 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday night. Ridden by Mario Gutierrez and trained by Brad Cox, Conceit rallied from a position well off the pace to overtake the leaders in a photo finish.

The race was defined by a fast early pace set by the 1-4 favorite, Explora, and Movie Night, who engaged in a duel through the early splits. Conceit, the 5-1 third betting choice, moved three wide in the stretch to win by a head, finishing with a time of 1:22.60 for the seven furlongs.

Explora, ridden by Flavien Prat, finished second, while Movie Night took third. This victory brings Conceit's career earnings to $434,883 from seven starts.
