Concepción authorities close 15 illegal casinos

The Municipality of Concepción has intensified operations to combat illegal casinos operating within the city. Out of approximately 30 detected establishments, 15 have been closed. During these coordinated efforts involving the Municipal Public Security Directorate, the municipal legal area, and the Carabineros de Concepción, authorities seized 1,049 machines.

Mayor Héctor Muñoz stated that the objective is to completely eliminate illegal activity, close all detected venues, and repurpose the spaces for legitimate commercial use. The municipality is currently in discussions with property owners to facilitate the conversion of these sites to restore normality and security to the affected neighborhoods.

Local community leaders, including Moisés Ríos, president of the Communal Union of Neighborhood Councils, have expressed support for the raids. Residents have called for continued inspections and seizures to diminish illicit business, while also requesting broader improvements to public spaces, lighting, and urban infrastructure in the city center.
