Concepción Chess Club celebrates 90th anniversary at UdeC

The Concepción Chess Club celebrated its 90th anniversary with events held at the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC). The festivities included a tournament and a presentation by Grandmaster Iván Morovic at the Salvador Gálvez auditorium.

During his talk, Morovic reviewed historical matches against opponents such as Kasparov and Yusupov. He discussed the importance of learning from mistakes in chess and noted the game's increased popularity through online platforms during the pandemic. Morovic also highlighted the growing number of children practicing chess in schools and expressed support for potential legislation to implement the game in national educational curricula.

Club president Pablo Koserak emphasized the historical significance of the milestone, noting that the club's longevity is a result of the foundation laid by previous generations of members.
