Concepción del Uruguay hosts Night of the Candles at Municipal Cemetery

More than one hundred people participated in the ‘Noche de las Velas’ (Night of the Candles) at the Municipal Cemetery of Concepción del Uruguay. This cultural initiative, organized by the Municipal Cemetery Directorate and the Culture Directorate, aimed to showcase the historical and architectural heritage of the necropolis through a unique nocturnal perspective.

Despite unusually cold weather for October, the event saw significant interest, receiving approximately 700 ticket requests. The guided tour, led by Lorena Kanneman and Guillermina Bevacqua, included stops throughout the historical section to highlight funerary architecture and the lives of notable local figures. The event was conducted as a silent and respectful procession, focusing on the concept of ‘making memory with’ others.

Aníbal Beorda from the Culture Directorate noted the extraordinary community response, highlighting a strong local interest in history and heritage. Due to the success of this first experience, municipal authorities indicated that new activities will be organized in the future.
