Concepción elderly receive legal identity documents

More than 100 elderly residents in the Concepción department have received their legal identity documents through the ‘Renacer Legal’ program. The initiative, organized by the Civil Registry in coordination with other institutions, aims to guarantee the right to identity and facilitate access to state benefits, such as pensions.

The results were presented at an event in the Municipal Theater of Concepción, attended by national, departmental, and municipal authorities. Héctor Cárdenas, executive director of the Technical Unit of the Social Cabinet of the Presidency, noted that the experience in Concepción serves as a model for implementing the program in other parts of the country.

The program focuses on locating and documenting elderly individuals who have lived for decades without legal identification, particularly in rural communities. Authorities highlighted the importance of this work, citing a case in San Alfredo where a woman over 100 years old obtained her ID to access her pension shortly before her death.
