Concepción residents report robbery wave using electronic scanners

Residents in the Torreones sector of Concepción are reporting a wave of at least six recent robberies. The perpetrators have reportedly been using electronic scanners, such as mobile phones or tablets, to bypass security codes on gates and vehicles.

In one recent incident, thieves used a stolen vehicle to access a property, where they spent approximately 40 minutes inside while residents were asleep. Victims have noted that the criminals appear to be using keys stolen from previous robberies to gain entry to new homes. In response to the insecurity, the municipality is coordinating preventive patrols with Carabineros.
