Concertación Universitaria in El Salvador strengthens support for Cuba

The Concertación Universitaria movement at the University of El Salvador (UES) is intensifying its solidarity efforts with Cuba. Led by coordinator Gilberto Gutiérrez, the voluntary student movement focuses on supporting those in need and promoting a deeper understanding of the Cuban reality among students.

Key activities include collaborating with the Capítulo Cuba collective to collect medicines and partnering with the UES Journalism Department to disseminate information. The group also conducts periodic analyses of the impact of the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade on Cuba, which they describe as an inhumane collective punishment.

As part of their recent initiatives, the movement has launched a campaign to collect signatures calling on the United Nations General Assembly to lift the blockade. Gutiérrez noted that student participation has exceeded expectations, with recent meetings seeing higher attendance than originally anticipated.
