Conchalí: RED bus burned and police attacked during protest

A public transport bus from the RED system was completely destroyed by fire on Friday night in the Conchalí commune of the Metropolitan Region. The incident occurred at the intersection of Los Acacios and El Romeral in the El Cortijo sector.

According to police reports, a group of unidentified individuals intercepted the vehicle, forcing the driver and six passengers to disembark before setting the bus on fire. No injuries were reported among the seven occupants.

The arson took place amidst a demonstration commemorating the death of Juan Aliste Vega. During the unrest, groups also targeted Carabineros officers with incendiary bombs and fireworks. Police units, including Public Order Control (COP) personnel, were deployed to the area to manage the violence. Authorities are currently conducting investigations to identify those responsible for the attacks.
