Concordia judge orders detention in femicide investigation

A judge in Concordia has ordered 60 days of preventive detention for Leandro José Sigwardt, who is accused of the femicide of Paola Mercedes Rigoni. The decision was made by Guarantee Judge Mauricio Guerrero following a request from prosecutor Mauro Jaume.

The incident occurred in the early hours of September 2 at a residence in the Pampa Soler settlement. Sigwardt surrendered to police after reporting a dispute with his partner. Rigoni was transported to the Delicia Concepción Masvernat Hospital, where she died from a skull fracture despite resuscitation efforts.

Police and prosecutors are investigating the death within a context of gender-based violence. Investigators are currently working to determine the exact cause of the cranial trauma, exploring whether it resulted from an impact against a wall or the floor. No weapons were found at the scene, and forensic experts are working to determine if alcohol or other substances were involved.
