Concordia named Art Nouveau City of America for 2025
The city of Concordia, located in Entre Ríos, has been declared the ‘Art Nouveau City of America’ for 2025 by the Asociación Art Nouveau Buenos Aires (AANBA). The city is noted for its significant architectural heritage, including the Obispado headquarters built in 1900, which was the first local residence to feature an elevator.
Key landmarks include the San Antonio de Padua Cathedral, featuring stained glass donated by Flora Urquiza, and the former Gran Hotel Colón, which has hosted notable figures such as Carlos Gardel, Juan Domingo Perón, and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Other notable structures include the Palacio Arruabarrena, a French academicist-style mansion designed by architect Gabriel Dulin in 1919, which currently serves as a museum.
