PAMI retirees protest service disruptions in Concordia and Santa Cruz
Pensioners and retirees in various Argentine regions are protesting against the current state of PAMI, the national social security agency for retirees.
In Concordia, members of the Mesa Coordinadora de Jubilados y Pensionados marched to PAMI offices following the removal of the Sanatorio Concordia as a provider. Affiliates have been informed that they must now seek care at public hospitals, such as Hospital Felipe Heras for low-complexity cases and Hospital Delicia Concepción Masvernat for higher-complexity needs. This change has caused significant concern regarding the continuity of medical appointments and specialized treatments, including oncology.
In Santa Cruz, specifically in Caleta Olivia, retirees are facing a crisis due to a vacancy in the local PAMI agency leadership. This lack of an agency head has reportedly paralyzed administrative procedures and hindered the delivery of medications. National Deputy Moira Lanesan Sancho has introduced a resolution in Congress to address the collapse of coverage and the shortage of medical providers in the northern and central parts of the province.
