Concordia seeks to officially name over 100 streets

The Concordia City Council is working to regularize the naming of more than 100 streets that currently lack official designations. The initiative involves a territorial survey and direct engagement with local residents to identify streets that have been used informally for years.

Councilman Emmanuel Godoy, president of the Commission for Consumer Defense and Citizen Suggestions, stated that the process aims to build identity and belonging by incorporating the history and characteristics of different neighborhoods. The project seeks to collect historical references and local stories to ensure that the new official names reflect the community's daily life.

The process is designed to be participatory, involving neighborhood commissions and local institutions. Once information is gathered, proposals are evaluated based on historical, cultural, geographical, and administrative criteria in coordination with municipal departments and the City Council.
