Concordia water treatment plant construction remains stalled
The stalled construction of a new water treatment plant in Concordia has become a central point of political debate within the local City Council. The Justicialist Party has requested official reports regarding the current status of the works, available funding, and the projected completion schedule.
The project, which began in 2017, was originally intended for completion in 2020 but has faced successive delays, eventually coming to a halt in 2023. While officials claim the project is between 93% and 95% complete, no updated technical certification has been presented to verify this figure. Governor Rogelio Frigerio had previously announced a completion date for late 2026, but opposition members have questioned why work has not yet resumed.
Opposition members linked the delay to historical water supply issues in various neighborhoods during the summer. In response, provincial and municipal officials cited a lack of resources and a reduction in national funding as primary obstacles to finishing the project, while also attributing responsibility to previous administrations.
