Concrete Pillar Collapse Kills Six‑Year‑Old in Heves, Hungary

A two‑meter concrete pillar that was not anchored fell on a six‑year‑old girl, Vivike, in a Heves‑county village. The child was crushed and died at the scene. Her grandmother recounted that the family was walking to the grandfather’s house when the incident occurred, and that the boys who were with them managed to jump clear while the pillar landed on the girl. Local mayor Dénes Jámbor expressed condolences and noted the municipal housing was well maintained. The family is coping with profound grief, with the surviving children and parents struggling to process the loss.

The incident has prompted calls for safety checks of similar structures in the area to prevent further tragedies.
