Condado de Huelva wine region receives European recognition

The Condado de Huelva wine region in Andalusia is gaining recognition for its unique orange wine and sustainable tourism initiatives. The orange wine, protected under a Geographical Indication, is produced using a natural aromatization process where dried orange peels are macerated in wine alcohol for at least six months. This is followed by a mandatory aging period of at least two years in oak casks to ensure complexity and balance.

Additionally, the Condado de Huelva Wine Route has been named ‘European Project of the Month 2026’ by Europe Direct Huelva. This distinction recognizes the work carried out under the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD), which aims to strengthen tourism resources linked to viticultural culture and territorial development through the use of European funds.
