Conde Duque exhibition ‘Yo fui a EGB’ closes after 71,500 visitors

The ‘Yo fui a EGB’ exhibition has concluded its run at the Conde Duque Cultural Center in Madrid, attracting more than 71,500 visitors. Originally scheduled to end on August 30, the Madrid City Council extended the exhibition until September 20 due to high public demand.

Part of the ‘Veranos de la Villa’ programming, the immersive exhibit offered a journey through the 1970s, 80s, and 90s using objects, sounds, images, and scents related to the General Basic Education (EGB) era. The exhibition achieved a daily average of 1,044 visitors over its 65 days, making it the most successful temporary exhibition in the municipal museums in terms of daily attendance.

Marta Rivera de la Cruz, the delegate for Culture, Tourism, and Sport, noted that the success demonstrates the ability of municipal museums to reach broad audiences by connecting through collective memory and shared cultural experiences.
