Condor Airbus A321 grounded for technical inspection
Condor recently experienced operational disruptions following the technical failure of a newly added Airbus A321, registration D-AIAH. The 16-year-old aircraft, leased from Aircastle and formerly operated by the insolvent Smart Lynx, was taken out of service on Saturday after only two days of scheduled operations due to a required “technical inspection of one of the cockpit windows.”
The grounding of D-AIAH triggered a chain reaction within the airline's fleet management. Another Airbus A321, registration D-AIAS, was deployed to cover routes such as Frankfurt to Lamezia Terme, which subsequently caused scheduling conflicts. These issues led to delays for flight DE182 from Hamburg and forced the postponement of a return flight from Hurghada to Hamburg to the following day to comply with mandatory crew rest periods.
Passengers affected by the delays were provided with hotel accommodations. As of Monday, October 5, both aircraft have returned to service, with D-AIAS landing in Hamburg and D-AIAH operating a flight from Frankfurt to Vienna.
