Condor ownership shifts as Attestor to acquire final state shares

British financial investor Attestor is set to acquire the remaining 49 percent stake in the German airline Condor by the end of August 2027. This move marks the final withdrawal of the German state and the state of Hessen from the company. The state's involvement originally arose during an existential crisis following the insolvency of Thomas Cook and the impact of the pandemic. Condor has already repaid 175 million euros in state aid previously provided via KfW.

In conjunction with this ownership shift, Condor is undergoing significant operational changes, including fleet renewal and a restructuring of its route network to better serve as a feeder for its Frankfurt hub.

As part of its strategic reorganization, Condor is also preparing for a move to Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport, scheduled for mid-April 2027. Under the project name ‘Da Vinci’, the airline is working with Fraport to develop new passenger and baggage processes, specialized security gates for specific destinations, and ‘walk boarding’ capabilities to improve turnaround efficiency.
