Condusef provides metrics for comparing bank credits and services
The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) has released indicators to assist consumers in evaluating banking products. Rather than focusing solely on interest rates, the organization advises comparing metrics such as total annual cost (CAT), commissions, transparency, and complaint resolution rates.
Key institutions highlighted for comparison include Scotiabank, BBVA México, HSBC, BanCoppel, and BanRegio. Regarding complaint resolution, Scotiabank reported a 47% favorable rate, followed by BBVA México at 46% and HSBC at 44%.
In terms of product costs, the BBVA Azul card reported a CAT of 85.5%, while BanRegio's classic card showed a CAT of 71.9% and BanCoppel's classic card recorded 70.3%. Condusef emphasizes that these figures serve as a reference point and that consumers should carefully review contracts and annual fees before committing to debt.
