Condusef recommends building an emergency fund for financial stability

The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) has issued a guide advising citizens to establish an emergency fund to manage unforeseen situations such as job loss, illness, or home repairs.

Condusef recommends allocating at least 10 percent of monthly income toward this fund. The ideal amount should cover between three to six months of fixed expenses, including housing, food, health, and debt. The institution notes that maintaining such a fund helps prevent debt, reduces financial stress, and provides stability for families.

As a practical example, Condusef suggests that an individual earning 15,000 pesos per month should aim for a fund of 45,000 pesos. By saving 1,500 pesos monthly, this goal could be achieved in approximately 30 months.
