Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG highlighted in regional events
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG region is receiving significant attention through educational initiatives and viticultural showcases. In Alessandria, the National Wine Tasters Organization (ONAV) hosted a masterclass led by Diego Tomasi, director of the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG. The event focused on the history, landscape, and unique characteristics of the UNESCO World Heritage hills, where steep terrain necessitates heroic, manual viticulture.
Participants explored the nuances of the DOCG designation through a guided tasting of eight labels, including selections from Rive and Cartizze. The session also featured gastronomic pairings, such as risotto San Domenico, to demonstrate the wines' versatility.
In Col San Martino, the Andreola winery continues to emphasize the importance of heroic viticulture within the denomination. By focusing on the Rive subzones, the winery aims to highlight specific pedoclimatic conditions and territorial differences. Andreola has also launched the ‘Vigneti delle Dolomiti’ project to expand these traditional mountain viticulture practices into new contexts.
