Confartigianato launches Artiturismo to promote artisan-based tourism

Confartigianato has launched ‘Artiturismo’, a new tourism model designed to integrate local artisans, small businesses, and traditional craftsmanship into the Italian travel experience. The initiative aims to promote sustainable and experiential tourism by allowing visitors to engage directly with production sites, workshops, and local traditions.

Data from the Confartigianato Study Office indicates a significant rise in interest for these types of experiences. During the summer quarter, 21.3% of vacationers chose itineraries including visits to artisan workshops and production sites, a substantial increase from 7.6% in 2019. The sector involves over 204,000 artisan enterprises and approximately 544,000 employees across manufacturing, food, and services.

The project is being implemented through local events, such as the ‘Vivi l’Artiturismo’ initiative in Ripe San Ginesio. This event features workshop visits, local product tastings, and the presentation of new tourism packages to showcase the village as a hub for experiential travel.
