Confcommercio Livorno warns of uncertainty over maritime concessions

Fulvietto Pierangelini, president of SIB Confcommercio Livorno, has expressed concern regarding the deep uncertainty surrounding the future of maritime state concessions in Italy.

While acknowledging that the proposed standard tender is a useful step, Pierangelini warned that it exists within an unclear legislative framework. He noted that the current situation fails to guarantee orderly administrative functions or the proper application of the Bolkestein Directive. Key issues identified include disputes over indemnities, economic offers, and participation requirements, as well as legal questions regarding resource scarcity and the validity of extensions to 2033.

Pierangelini emphasized that the lack of regulatory certainty could be more damaging to businesses than the Bolkestein Directive itself. He called for urgent legislative intervention to provide clarity for entrepreneurs who have invested heavily in coastal services and infrastructure, particularly in the province of Livorno where maritime tourism is a vital economic driver.
