Confesercenti Grosseto seeks tourism safeguards for Follonica's TI-Link-Medlink cable landing
Confesercenti Grosseto presented its observations during the public consultation on the TI‑Link‑Medlink interconnection project, which will bring submarine power cables ashore in the Pratoranieri area of Follonica, Tuscany. The association acknowledged the national and European energy relevance of the scheme but warned that the installation must not disregard local tourism, commercial activity, beach use, mobility and the coastal environmental balance.
The group proposed that the municipal public parking lot at Pratoranieri be used as the primary landing site, or alternatively another suitable municipal area, provided the developer undertakes a full refurbishment of the site – paving, lighting, accessibility, drainage, green spaces and services – and returns it in better condition without permanently reducing parking capacity. Andrea Biondi, provincial director of Confesercenti Grosseto, stressed that the request is not ideological but aims for a responsible, transparent transition that benefits the local community.
