Confesercenti initiative gains support from Italian regional and local leaders
Italian regional and local authorities are moving to support a Confesercenti popular initiative law aimed at the urban regeneration of commerce and proximity services. The proposal seeks to combat commercial desertification in urban centers, hamlets, and villages.
Key measures within the proposal include the establishment of Special Proximity Economic Zones (ZESP), which would offer fiscal and administrative advantages to small businesses. Additionally, the initiative calls for a national observatory on neighborhood commerce and the creation of a fund to support commercial regeneration interventions.
In Piedmont, President Alberto Cirio has signed the proposal as a private citizen, joined by several regional councilors. He emphasized that supporting local shops ensures jobs, community services, and increased neighborhood safety. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Massa has initiated formal procedures to join the signature collection campaign, with the City Council expected to deliberate on the matter soon.
