Confesercenti launches signature drive for urban regeneration

Confesercenti has launched a national signature collection campaign to support a popular legislative proposal aimed at urban regeneration and the protection of local commerce and services.

The initiative seeks to collect 50,000 signatures to urge the government to implement measures defending small shops, artisan workshops, and local centers. A central component of the proposal is Article 3, which outlines the creation of Special Proximity Economic Zones (ZESpro). These zones would provide tax incentives, simplified bureaucracy, and dedicated financial resources to revitalize historic centers and combat commercial desertification.

In Umbria, the campaign is gaining momentum in areas such as Todi, with support from local associations and the Ancestor Umbria association. On the island of Ischia, local representatives emphasize that ZESpro status is critical to offset the high logistical costs and seasonal challenges faced by insular territories.
