Confimi Industria Veneto warns of 50,000 jobs at risk

Confimi Industria Veneto has issued an alarm regarding the manufacturing crisis, warning that approximately 50,000 jobs in the metalworking sector and its related industries are at risk. The association plans to protest in Brussels on September 7 alongside Eurometal, the European steel federation, to demand support for the manufacturing sector.

Industry leaders cite high energy and labor costs in Europe compared to international competitors as a primary concern. Additionally, they highlighted the impact of low duties on semi-finished products, such as aluminum and cast iron, imported from outside the European Union. Confimi reports that these imports currently enter the market with duties as low as 1.6% to 1.8%, creating difficult competitive conditions for European firms.
