Confintesa holds IX Confederated Consultation in Rome

The Confintesa confederation held its IX Confederated Consultation in Rome, focusing on the theme ‘Work that generates: People, businesses, and communities in the Italy to come.’ During the event, Francesco Prudenzano was confirmed in his role as General Secretary.

A central topic of discussion was the economic dignity of workers and the effectiveness of collective bargaining. Francesco Prudenzano proposed that tax incentives and fiscal benefits should be awarded to collective agreements that offer higher wages and better welfare, rather than simply rewarding contracts from leading unions. He noted that some non-leading contracts, such as those in private security, actually offer higher base pay but lack the same fiscal advantages for employers.

Senator Maurizio Gasparri emphasized the need for political institutions to listen to all social forces, including emerging and smaller unions, to address current challenges like energy costs and social tensions. Other participants discussed the decline in real wages, noting that according to the Parliamentary Budget Office, real wages for private employees are 6.6% lower than in 1990.
