Confitería Santiago to close after nearly 70 years in Concepción

Confitería Santiago, a long-standing business in downtown Concepción, Chile, has announced it will close its doors next month. Established in 1958, the shop has been a fixture of the Bío Bío region for nearly 70 years.

One of the owners, Mónica García, noted that the decision to close follows the retirement of one of the business partners. The establishment, located at Aníbal Pinto 673, offered a variety of goods including chocolates, sweets, stationery, toys, and household items.

The closure also affects the nearby El Gallo bookstore, which is owned by the same partners and will also cease operations. The announcement has prompted nostalgia among local residents and long-term employees.
