Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh formed by two major theater merger

The Pittsburgh CLO and Pittsburgh Public Theater have merged to form a single entity named Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh. The new name was selected from more than 3,000 submissions in a public poll.

The merger aims to combine the musical theater legacy of the Pittsburgh CLO with the classical and contemporary productions of the Pittsburgh Public Theater. By pooling staff, audiences, and expertise, the organization intends to sustain operations while maintaining theatrical excellence. The name ‘Confluence’ reflects the city’s geography, where two rivers meet.

Dr. Brett Ashley Crawford is serving as the interim president and executive producer while a search for a permanent leader is conducted. The company’s first production, ‘How Shakespeare Saved My Life,’ is scheduled to begin at the O’Reilly Theater on November 11.
