Congo advances healthcare reforms and vaccination funding initiatives
In Congo, health sector stakeholders are addressing governance and funding challenges. Consultations regarding the implementation of Mandatory Health Insurance (AMO) concluded in Kinshasa on October 10. Led by Minister Samuel Roger Kamba, the discussions focused on co-management between authorities and worker representatives, transparency, and the development of digital health services to improve financial protection for families.
Separately, the management of Loandjili General Hospital has initiated new controls to better track internal revenue and address hospital debt. The administration is also developing a strategic roadmap for 2027–2031 to improve resource management and care quality.
On the national budget front, representatives from Gavi, UNICEF, and the Ministry of Health met with Senate President Pierre Ngolo to advocate for increased and predictable state funding for vaccination programs in the 2027 budget to ensure continuous supply and campaign stability.
