Congo aims to become a Central African tourism hub
On the occasion of the 47th World Tourism Day, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the Minister of Culture, Arts, National Heritage, and Tourism Industry, announced the government's ambition to establish the Republic of the Congo as a leading tourism hub in Central Africa.
Minister Gakosso emphasized the need to re-evaluate and promote the country's existing natural and cultural sites. He highlighted that tourism is a key pillar for the nation's economic diversification. A central part of this strategy involves encouraging Congolese citizens to visit their own country's heritage sites to build a foundation for international tourism.
Addressing modern challenges, the Minister noted that the current theme, ‘Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Rethink Tourism,’ presents an opportunity to use digital tools and AI to showcase the country's unique cultural identity and remain competitive in the global tourism market.
