Congress accuses Amit Shah of undermining India's electoral system

The Congress party has criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah following his remarks regarding the BJP’s electoral victories and the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal accused Shah of undermining the country’s electoral system, suggesting that the Home Minister’s focus on 2029 indicates instability within the current administration.

Congress MP Imran Masood further alleged that the government has compromised the independence of the Election Commission, describing it as a “mere puppet.” The party has called for transparency regarding the deletion of names from voter lists, demanding that the government release details on how many individuals were identified and deported in relation to claims of infiltration.
