Congress alleges fund misappropriation regarding Ram Temple
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has accused the BJP, RSS, and VHP of failing to ensure accountability regarding donations and offerings linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Ramesh alleged that thousands of crores of rupees collected from citizens for the temple’s construction have been misappropriated.
The Congress leader also raised concerns regarding specific land transactions involving the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He cited a transaction from March 18, 2021, in which land was reportedly purchased by individuals for ₹2 crore at 7:10 PM, only for the Trust to acquire the same plot for ₹18.5 crore through Champat Rai five minutes later.
Ramesh questioned why an 825% markup was permitted in such a short timeframe and noted that the same individuals, including the former BJP mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay and trustee Anil Mishra, allegedly witnessed both registration deeds. He further demanded the public release of a 2021 investigation report and the results of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.
