Congress demands accountability in Ram temple donation theft case
The Congress party has intensified its criticism of the BJP-led government regarding alleged irregularities and theft involving donations intended for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The opposition party is demanding transparency and a full investigation into how public contributions were managed and spent.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh raised concerns after charges could not be framed against eight accused individuals for a third time. Ramesh questioned why former temple trust officials, such as Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, are being treated as witnesses rather than accused. He also highlighted that 105 instances of donation money being removed were reportedly captured on CCTV.
The party has called for the release of video and audio footage related to the incident, suggesting that withholding such evidence may protect high-ranking individuals. Congress maintains that religious faith should not be used to bypass financial accountability and that devotees have a right to know how their contributions are handled.
