Congress leader Amit Kol stabbed to death in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh

Amit Kol, the tribal district president of the Indian National Congress and former council candidate, was attacked with knives and killed on Tuesday night in the Shanti Vihar colony of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Police say the assault occurred between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm while Kol was walking outside his home; he was seriously injured and died before reaching Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

The Rewa police have opened an investigation, securing CCTV footage, collecting forensic evidence, and conducting door‑to‑door inquiries. Senior officers, including the superintendent of police, inspected the scene, and additional police forces were deployed to maintain order. Kol’s father, a local police sub‑inspector, has been identified, and authorities are seeking the unknown assailants.

The murder has sparked shock and fear in the community, with residents gathering at the site and local Congress workers expressing outrage. Police continue to search for suspects and promise a full report once the investigation progresses.
