Congress leader Raju begins padayatra over alleged double voting
Congress leader Chaluvagali Raghavendra Raju has launched a padayatra, or foot march, from Mahabubnagar to Hyderabad to protest alleged electoral irregularities. Raju is demanding that the Election Commission take action to remove the double votes of public representatives from the electoral rolls in the Mahabubnagar district.
According to Raju, he filed an initial complaint with the Election Commission of India on May 26, 2026, but claims no action has been taken in the 144 days since. He alleges that a prominent individual and his wife in the Mahabubnagar constituency possess double vote entries. Raju noted a chain of administrative reminders involving the State Election Commissioner, the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer, and the Mahabubnagar District Collector, yet the issue remains unresolved.
