PM Modi's SRCC speech sparks political row over 'Angry Uncle' remarks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address at the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) has sparked intense political debate in India. During his speech, the Prime Minister criticized opponents of government initiatives, referring to them as “Angry Uncles” or “Naraz Fufa” and “Dimagi Naxals.” He contrasted the current economic and social security of India with the situation in 2013, describing his administration's approach as a “dose of homeopathy” to address political restlessness.
Opposition leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, have condemned the remarks. Kharge accused the Prime Minister of using the platform for a political campaign rather than engaging in meaningful dialogue with the youth regarding education, unemployment, and paper leaks. He argued that the use of derogatory adjectives is a tactic to divert attention from governance failures.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also criticized the Prime Minister, suggesting his comments were self-reflective. Meanwhile, members of the BJP, such as Nitin Nabin and Ashish Shelar, defended the Prime Minister, asserting that the opposition is simply dissatisfied with India's rapid development and progress.
