Congress leaders protest alleged vote theft in Jaipur
The Congress Party held a large-scale protest in Jaipur, Rajasthan, to demonstrate against alleged ‘vote theft’ and irregularities in voter lists. Led by Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra, the demonstration included senior leaders such as former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully, and AICC General Secretary Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Following a public meeting at Shaheed Smarak, protesters attempted to march toward the office of the Chief Electoral Officer. Police intercepted the march with barricades, leading to clashes between security forces and party workers. Authorities deployed water cannons to disperse the crowd, and several top leaders, including Dotasra, Randhawa, and Jully, were reportedly arrested.
During the event, internal friction also occurred when two groups of party workers engaged in a physical altercation near the stage, requiring police intervention. Ashok Gehlot accused the Election Commission of bias and claimed that millions of names were removed from voter rolls during recent revisions, describing the movement as a fight to protect democracy.
