Congress CWC meeting sets strategy on paper leaks and national issues
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) held a marathon four-hour meeting in New Delhi to strategize on several national issues. Key decisions include launching a nationwide grassroots campaign to address examination paper leaks and the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ student outreach program in 800 cities. The party also resolved to stick to its 1937 resolution regarding the national song, Vande Mataram, stating only the first two stanzas will be sung at party events.
Other major topics included the ‘chanda chori’ controversy involving alleged donation irregularities at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which the party intends to take to the village and panchayat levels. The CWC also expressed concern over alleged Chinese incursions in Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh, as well as the need for education and examination system reforms.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed personal disappointment during the meeting regarding the lack of vocal support from some senior colleagues concerning a ‘shuddhikaran’ (purification) ritual held in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, following one of his public addresses. Kharge described the incident as humiliating and likened it to the sting of untouchability. Meanwhile, student organizations in Hyderabad held protests against the National Testing Agency (NTA) following recent examination discrepancies and paper leaks.
