Congress leaders protest in Jaipur over alleged assault of NSUI official

Congress leaders in Rajasthan have staged an overnight sit-in protest at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate, demanding the registration of a Zero FIR regarding the alleged assault of NSUI National Secretary Ritu Barala.

The protest follows an incident in Delhi involving a female police constable. Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Govind Singh Dotasra and other party members slept in the corridors of the commissionerate to press their demands. Dotasra stated that the party would not withdraw until an FIR is officially registered, questioning why legal procedures differ between states based on political leadership.

Jaipur police have declined to register a separate FIR in Rajasthan, stating that an existing case has already been filed at the Connaught Place Police Station in Delhi. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ajay Singh noted that Barala’s complaint has been attached to the ongoing investigation in Delhi. The demonstration has led to increased security and minor scuffles between protesters and police personnel.
